The Scottish rock Gods are back debuting three new tracks from their forthcoming album, Ellipsis, whilst playing a live session at Maida Vale this week on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show. This was only the bands second live performance in 18 months and they sounded like they had never been away.
In a set packed full of their greatest hits they slipped in three new songs along with ‘Wolves of Winter’ which they debuted a couple of weeks back. They played ‘Animal Style’ a fiery song with everything you’d come to expect from a Biffy Clyro song with powerful bass and a whole lot of guitar solo’s mixed in with Simon Neil’s vocals and the backing vocals from the Johnson brothers.
Re-arrange, a complete opposite to ‘Animal Style, a mellow song the first of the kind to be heard of the new album after hearing ‘Wolves of Winter’ and “Animal Style’ both heavy songs which feel like they’re coming at you at 100mph, but with this song they’ve eased up on the speed created a slow song with gentle guitar riffs, makes a perfect chill out song.
Very much similar to the previous song mentioned ‘Medicine’ is another chilled out song from the Scottish trio with Simon Neil's vocals, an acoustic guitar and some keyboard in there along with some backing vocals towards the end. Its very reminiscent of ‘God & Satan’ and ‘Machine’.
‘Ellipsis’ is set to be released on July 8th and is already shaping up nicely and will be the bands 7th studio album. You can see the band at Reading & Leeds Festival this summer where they take to the main stage for their headline set.
