Slam dunk has a massive line up for it’s ten year anniversary this year, so here at Ont’ Sofa we thought we’d recommend some artists for you to check out, cause we're nice like that. Don’t worry though we won’t be suggesting Panic! At The Disco and Of Mice and Men, these recommendations are strictly up and coming artists.
So without further adieu:
Formed in 2014 by Irish siblings; Paul and Steph O’Sullivan, this two-piece alternative rock group are a must see at this years Slam Dunk. Making their SD debut on the new acoustic stage, Greywind combine ambient guitar work with powerful female vocals. This band got signed after releasing only one song and have only played a few gigs, they're going to be massive so make sure you see them first.
FFO: PVRIS, Against The Current, Set It Off, Evanescence
The One Hundred
This unsigned quintet bring an exciting and highly original look at modern rock; mixing an eclectic combination of crushing guitars and infectious electronica, the band have a unique home-grown approach to song writing which incorporates elements of metal, hip hop, rock and dance. Throw in some distinctively English rap-come-singing and you’ve got a band that will have you singing along, punching the air and screaming for more.
FFO: The Quemists, Issues
This Australian quartet brings a refreshing sound to the already vibrant pop punk scene. Combining the sounds of bands such as Blink 182 and The Wonder Years with that of stadium rockers Kings Of Leon, With Confidence are not one you want to miss.
FFO: Kings Of Leon, The Wonder Years, State Champs, Blink 182
Keeping it in the homeland, this Yorkshire singer/songwriter will be taking to the new acoustic stage and we strongly suggest you listen to what she’s got to say. Proclaiming to be a storyteller as much as a musician, Seafoal started out on YouTube and quickly gained recognition. She is definitely one to watch.
FFO: PVRIS, Against The Current, Halsey
This Liverpool pop punk band have taken the scene by storm with their debut EP SKRWD, despite sticking to abriviated titles, this band by no means shorten the effort put into their song writing. Having just finished a tour with Neck Deep, they are definitely a band to keep an eye on at Slam Dunk, I have no doubt that they’ll be returning again on a larger stage soon so make sure you see them first.
FFO: Neck Deep, Moose Blood, Blink 182
