Singer songwriter Billie Marten first graced the Ont’ Sofa studios four years ago back when she was just 12 years old. Now four years later, Billie is signed to Chess Club Records and has released two EP’s ‘As Long As’ and ‘Ribbon’ as well as a handful of singles.
Marten has been hotly tipped for big things in 2016, with being nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2016 list as well as featuring on Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac’s Hottest Records in the world playlist with her new song ‘Milk and Honey’
You can catch Billie Marten at a number of festivals this summer, one of which being Latitude Festival where she is headlining The Lake Stage there on the Saturday night.
Her musical style can be compared to that of Lucy Rose’s who in which she toured under, as well as Laura Marling’s. Billie expresses that she draws her musical influences from the likes of Laura Marling herself aswell as Damien Rice and Loudon Wainwright.
You can catch one of Billie’s many Ont’ Sofa sessions on our channel, but here is her cover of ‘You Make My Dreams’ by Hall & Oates which she performed back in 2013!
